In the heart of Roma Imperiale, Forte dei Marmi, Villa Sara is the result of the complete transformation of a 1960s residence, reinterpreted through a contemporary design language while retaining the warmth and comfort of a true holiday home. The project reshapes the volumes and interior spaces to create a villa centred on everyday comfort and a constant connection with the garden.

The living area unfolds as a generous, fluid space organised around an extensive panelled wall that seamlessly integrates storage, circulation and bespoke details. Large openings towards the covered terraces and swimming pool expand the perception of space, creating a continuous dialogue between indoors and outdoors.

On the upper floor, seven suites are conceived as private retreats, while a dedicated wellness level accommodates a spa, gym and relaxation area. Every aspect of the project was carefully considered, from furnishings and finishes to material selection and lighting design. A neutral palette is articulated through Ceppo di Gré-effect stoneware in shades of black, green and sand, complemented by bronze details that define profiles and finishes. All furniture was custom-designed and handcrafted, creating a coherent yet distinctive identity throughout every space of the villa.
In the living area, the design unfolds through a sequence of volumes and transparencies, with spaces gradually revealing themselves to one another. The kitchen and dining area are connected by a dark-framed glass partition, separating their functions without interrupting the flow of natural light. The central island, clad in dark Ceppo di Gré-effect stoneware and finished with a bronze band, becomes the social heart of the space, complemented by taupe upholstered seating.

On the opposite side, the living area is defined by a large modular sofa, a stone-clad fireplace wall and a series of bookcases illuminated by a warm amber glow. At the centre, a low oval unit in light oak serves both as a coffee table and a sculptural feature, while vertical slatted wall panelling creates rhythm throughout the space and seamlessly integrates storage and technical functions.

Lighting is an integral part of the design. Directional track spotlights highlight materials and architectural geometries, integrated LEDs soften transitions between spaces, while decorative lighting introduces a more expressive accent in the social areas and suites. This layered lighting scheme allows the atmosphere of the villa to adapt throughout the day, supported by an advanced home automation system.
The bedrooms maintain a restrained yet enveloping design language, shaped by natural oak, richly textured fabrics, upholstered headboards and bespoke storage, while giving each suite its own distinctive character. In one bedroom, dark slatted walls extend from the bed towards the en-suite bathroom, featuring twin basins in veined stone and a large circular mirror. Another suite explores deeper tones, with a forest green headboard, a dark four-poster bed and an anthracite-grey stone bathroom featuring a basin carved directly from the stone.

In a third bedroom, a sage green headboard and vertically striped wall panelling introduce a fresher note, complemented by a light wood desk and a bathroom with sculptural twin basins in grey stone. A fourth suite adopts a warmer palette, with illuminated discs above the bed, a pink shell-shaped armchair and a minimalist bathroom featuring an exposed black basin.

The wellness area interprets the same balance in a more sensory way. Wood, glass and atmospheric lighting in shades of blue and amber define a space dedicated to relaxation, with a dark masonry shower, lounge area and natural details such as rattan and reeds, creating an immersive spa-like experience suspended between intimacy and contemplation.
