Serena Villa - Lucca
In the hills of Lucca, a contemporary oasis takes shape, where the purity of minimalist design meets the understated elegance of bespoke luxury. Clean geometries and refined materials come together in an architecture defined by clarity and an intimate sense of warmth.
The architecture of the villa nestles into the Lucca hills like an organic volume of pale stucco embracing the natural slope, its clean lines blending seamlessly with dry-stone walls and centuries-old olive trees. The transition between the landscape, dotted with slender pine trees, and the interiors is gentle and fluid, a permeable boundary that dissolves through expansive glass surfaces. Crossing the threshold feels like entering a volume filled with pure air and golden light.
The interior immediately reveals a warm and welcoming atmosphere, defined by bespoke furnishings that naturally follow the spatial layout, creating fluid and intimate pathways rather than rigid boundaries. In the generous living room, the sense of openness is interrupted only by a striking architectural centrepiece: a sculptural cylindrical fireplace rising like a visual anchor of warmth, visible from every angle.
Lighting is integrated into the architecture itself: recessed LED strips create unexpected depth beneath wall-mounted walnut cabinetry, while bubble-shaped and spiral ceiling lights sculpt the space above, transforming illumination from a purely functional element into a form of art. Distinct areas emerge naturally, from the dining space with its warm chromatic accents to a tactile kitchen where marble meets timber, continuing through to the bedrooms and bathrooms, where the purity of white marble and warm woods creates a quiet sense of harmony. It is a rediscovery of simplicity, where true luxury lies in the integrity of form and comfort.
At the heart of the living area, harmony emerges through an evocative dialogue between clean geometries and pure materials. This visual and tactile interplay finds its strongest expression in the central fireplace: the warm grain of the timber flooring gently embraces its circular stone base, supporting a raw metal cylinder. Rising above it in elegant contrast, the smooth white surface of the hood extends towards the ceiling like a minimalist sculpture. Around this focal point, the soft textures and generous proportions of the modular seating soften the formal composition, creating an inviting oasis of comfort.
Along the walls, the architectural narrative continues through suspended timber storage units, precisely articulated by a sequence of square panels. Enhanced by soft backlighting that gently blurs their edges, the volumes appear to float within the space. The interplay between continuous surfaces, warm natural finishes and subtly industrial details creates a dynamic yet balanced interior, where the rigour of geometric forms naturally gives way to an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
In the spaces dedicated to rest, the mood becomes even more intimate and relaxed. In the bedroom, the timber bed structure appears to float above a strip of integrated LED light, framed by an illuminated slatted headboard and enveloped by walls in soft taupe tones. The parquet flooring continues seamlessly into the bathroom, creating a refined retreat where the elegance of a marble vanity top meets the enveloping curves of the corner bathtub, bathed in natural light.
